Mr Jean-Claude Piris, former Director-General of the Legal Service of the Council of the European Union, was the keynote speaker at EFTA’s seminar on the EEA: The role of the EEA in a multi-speed Europe. The event, which took place at the EFTA Secretariat on 21 March 2013, was attended by approximately 130 participants from both the public and private sectors across the EEA.

Approximately 120 participants from both the public and private sectors in the EEA met at the EFTA Secretariat in Brussels on 13-14 September 2012 for the biannual seminar on the EEA.

On 19 January 2012, a record 170 participants from both the public and private sectors attended the EFTA Secretariat’s biannual seminar on the EEA.

The first part of the seminar was dedicated to presentations on the EFTA Secretariat, the EFTA Court, the EFTA Surveillance Authority, the EFTA Statistical Office and the EFTA Financial Mechanism Office. These focused on the day-to-day management of the EEA Agreement in the different institutions’ respective areas of competence.

On 9 and 10 June 2011, around 90 participants from both the public and private sectors in the EEA met at the EFTA Secretariat in Brussels for its biannual seminar on the EEA.

Participants from both the public and private sectors met at the Secretariat in Brussels 16 and 17 December 2010 for the biannual EFTA Seminar on the EEA.

Participants from the public and private sectors met at the Secretariat in Brussels on 27 and 28 May 2010 for the biannual EFTA Seminar on the EEA.

Participants from both the public and private sectors met at the Secretariat in Brussels on 10th and 11th December for the biannual EFTA Seminar on the EEA.

The EFTA Secretariat biannual seminar on the EEA Agreement in Brussels on 11-12 June was attended by almost 100 participants.

A successful seminar was organised at the EFTA Secretariat in Brussels on 9 December 2008. Presentations and panel discussons provided an in-depth look at the decision shaping role of the EEA EFTA States.

On Monday, 13 October, 2008 the EFTA Parliamentary Committee and the EFTA Consultative Committee presented a joint conference on energy and climate in Bergen, Norway, called “From Bali to Copenhagen: Developing the right toolbox to fight climate change in a globalised economy”.

The EFTA Secretariat held its biannual EEA Seminar on 12 and 13 June 2008, at the Secretariat's offices in Brussels.

On 11 June EFTA, in co-operation with the European Commission and the European Parliament, held a workshop entitled "Certification and marking for Europe." Through presentations from many stakeholders and follow-up discussions, diverging opinions were expressed and views exchanged. The workshop was attended by 100 representatives of important stakeholders.

On the 14th of May the Working group on Education, Training and Youth opened up the doors of the EFTA Secretariat for a conference on the Open Method of Coordination (OMC) and Lifelong Learning. Though difficult to grasp, OMC known for its soft law mechanisms, has developed into an important tool for EU policymaking and is a central part of the renewed Lisbon Strategy. The day-long seminar brought together both practitioners and academics for a fruitful debate and was a great success.

The biannual Seminar on the EEA was held 22 and 23 November in Brussels with 107 persons attending from all corners of Europe. The first day covered the institutions and activities under the EEA Agreement.

At the initiative of the EFTA Working Group on Civil Protection, a Workshop on the European Programme for Critical Infrastructure Protection tool place at the EFTA Secretariat Wednesday 21 November 2007 from 2pm.

An EFTA Seminar for the Seconded National Experts took place on the afternoon of Thursday 11 October at the EFTA Secretariat in Brussels.

The EFTA Secretariat held its biannual EEA Seminar on 14 and 15 June 2007 in Brussels.

EFTA Secretariat held a Seminar on Services on 6 December 2006. The seminar focused on the newly adopted Services Directive and challenges arising from its reduced scope.

Presenting the new EU innovation strategy to the EEA: The EFTA conference on the new EU innovation strategy was organised on 14 November at the EFTA Secretariat in Brussels.

The EFTA Secretariat organised its seminar on Decision Shaping in the EEA on Friday 11 November 2005 in Brussels. The Seminar was targeted at representatives from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway who participate in the EU's expert groups and comitology committees. The aim of the Seminar was to allow EEA EFTA experts who participate in these committees to exchange ideas and best practice concerning participation in these meetings.
